Michael Willow
is a song writer born in Thessaloniki (Northern Greece) in 1982.
He started playing guitar and sing at the age of 10 in Alexandrio and Macedonian Conservatory of Thessaloniki. He had voice lessons with the American opera teacher Heather Karen Helinger, and one of the most promising rock singers of Greece John Jeff Touch and then Jena Harris (Waltons Music School) (Ireland) Since November 2006 he has moved to Dublin city (Ireland) where he has his own home studio. Curently he is guitar teacher and voice trainer in Dun Laoghaire music centre. He has worked with the Ozanam House community resources for the summer project doing choir arrangments. He supported the idea to create a Greek-Irish Union for poetry.
COLLABORATIONS: 1)With the Greek rock band ‘Bemol’: One of his songs included in their album released on the 25 of May 2007 "GIATI DEN ISE SIOPI" (WHY YOU ARE NOT SILENCE) (Lyrics: Vasilis Barlakas)
2)With the second most famous Greek band “The Olympians Live” (known also as “The Olympians”). Some of his songs will be included in their next album. He also helped them in some demoworks using his own studio equiqment
3) Since summer of 2005 he collaborate as a composer and singer with the publishing house «Idrogeios» and the Non-Governmental Cultural Organization «Argonautes», setting poems to music and performing them at the Poetry Festivals organised by «Argonautes» and the «Music Company of Northern Greece». In view of the 2nd Poetry Festival Of Thessaloniki that took place on the 4 of November 2006 a cd album has been released (3.000 pieces) with the title “Olive” in which he and two other composers set to music some of the poems of the participants. He set to music poems of the American song writer Lee Pinkerson and other Greek poets (the daughter of the famous Greek poet Giannis Koutsoheras, Leta Koutsohera). 4) From May 2004 until November 2006 he broadcasted the radio show “Sound and Vision” sponsored by the electronic music-promotion company www.music-city.gr. Special guest in his shows in City International was the British composer and singer NIKKI SUDDEN (who had collaborated among others with R.E.M and the Rolling Stones) on the 15 and 22-11-2004. More interviews followed with the local groups “I Knew Them” and Stefan Swerzfeger’s “Big Sleep” (May 2005), while Sudden returned for the third time in November 2005.
5)Live performances in music scenes in Thessaloniki and Dublin City and in the 1st poetry festival of Thessaloniki (15 of October 2005), in the poetry festival May of Love (24 of May 2006),in the 2nd poetry festival of thessaloniki (3 November 2006) that was dedicated to the Worldwide famous Greek poet and Translator Takis Varvitsiotes. He also undertook the presentation of the festival

1) Piano, singing, theory and history of music lessons (Ampelokipi e Macedoniko Conservatorio, Greece – Waltons New School of Music Dublin, Ireland)
2) Collaboration with the famous greek groups Pix Lax and Onar (lyrics writer). Some of my lyrics set to music in the albums “Are ther goldfish here?”(Pix Lax) and “From the edge of the earth” – Onar.
3) Member of the greek company of copyright (AEPI) since 1999.
4) Partecipation in the Poetic Festivals of Thessaloniki (1st and 2nd Poetry Festival 2005 – 2006). Backing vocals in the cd “Olive” of the 2nd Poetry Festival.
5) Member of the “Choir of Thessaloniki” (2004 – 1 year) with participations in concerts in the Music Hall of Thessaloniki and Athens. Most important concerts: ‘Madama Butterfly’ Puccini, ‘Requiem’ Mozart.
OTHER ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES: 1)Participation in the 12th Biennale of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean – Naples 2005, as a poet. 2)Member of the theatre group of Migdonia, Thessaloniki 2002.
